Issuance of New License If Failed to Renew within Five Years after Expiration
A license that is not renewed within five years after its expiration shall be canceled and shall not be renewed, restored, reinstated, or reissued thereafter, but the holder of the license may apply for and obtain a new license if the following requirements are satisfied (Business and Professions Code (BPC) ยง 1718.3):
- No fact, circumstance, or condition exists which would justify denial of licensure under BPC section 480.
- The license holder pays all of the fees that would be required if the license holder were then applying for the license for the first time and all delinquency fees, if any, that have accrued since the date on which the license holder last renewed the license. Delinquency fees shall not accrue after the license has been canceled pursuant to BPC section 1718.3, subsection (b).
- The license holder applies for licensure, as a new applicant, through one of the available licensing pathways under division 2 of the BPC and meets all the requirements for licensure outlined therein.
If you are interested in obtaining a new RDA or RDAEF license, OA or DSA permit, and you previously held a license or permit that has been canceled for the reason outlined above, please send a message to the Board or call 916-263-2300 for additional information.
